More tips on where to meet people in Brno

Another year has flown by, and since some of the tips from our original "Dating in Brno" article might be a little out of date, it’s time for an update!

Would you like to meet new people, find a partner for your leisure time, or perhaps someone to share life's joys and sorrows with? :-) Then read on and get inspired by all the places in Brno where you can connect with others outside of our project.

Invest in Education

We don't necessarily mean heading back to university, but rather learning new things and developing your talents. Simply do more of what you enjoy and what you want to be good at. At courses, workshops, and studios, you’ll meet many new people with whom you share at least one common hobby. When you have something in common, the conversation flows much more easily, whether you’re shy or an extrovert. Plus, as your skills grow, so will your confidence! By the way, when was the last time you visited a library?

Get Moving: Dance and Sport

Dance is a fantastic social activity. In Brno, you’ll find specialised dance schools as well as social dancing evenings (tančírny) where the crowd changes constantly, allowing you to meet new people through movement. If you’re from the outskirts of Brno and love folklore, there’s the opportunity to get involved in organising traditional village fetes (hody). For a mix of folk and fitness, try "Folk it" lessons—or perhaps give Swing a go?

If sport is your hobby, there’s nothing easier than joining an existing group. On Facebook, you can find training groups for running, Spartan races, dragon boats, cycling "dating" groups, and even parkour. Brno also offers a wide range of courses; if you want to perfect your swimming, try "Total Immersion" sessions. You can start anything at any age—from martial arts and running to skateboarding. For adrenaline seekers, the "Sakrblé" project organises paragliding and canyoning trips where you’ll meet like-minded enthusiasts.

Self-Discovery and Culture

If you want to learn more about yourself while meeting others in nature, experiential activity courses are ideal. In Brno, look into Instruktoři Brno, Prázdninová škola Lipnice, or Brontosauři Brno. Psychologist Kristína also organises interesting weekend events.

For culture and history lovers, we recommend following the TIC Brno website or galleries like Závodny and Vaněk Gallery. If you’re a bit of a performer—or want to see if you have a hidden talent—try an Improvisation course.

The Power of Volunteering

From our own experience, we can say that volunteering creates incredibly strong and positive connections. Brno is the cultural heart of Moravia, and almost every week there are festivals and charity events. Most have a strong base of volunteers.

Love coffee? Sign up for the annual Coffee Week. Interested in global affairs? Help out at the One World festival. Linguists will love the Bonjour Brno festival, and you’ll meet great people at Ghettofest, which brings together music, food, and—most importantly—people.

Business Networking

If you’d like to combine meeting people with making professional contacts, head to a networking event. This is often a part of events at Impact Hub Brno, or you can find standalone activities via Na volné noze (for freelancers) or the Smart Network club.

You now have plenty of inspiration for interesting places and activities in Brno, so it’s up to you where you head first. Whether you choose one of our events or one of the tips above, just go for it! You’ll meet new people, but more importantly, you’ll be spending time on yourself and broadening your horizons.
