Recommended Summer Reading
Meeting someone is one thing. All it takes is an opportunity (that’s what we’re here for!) and a bit of mutual chemistry. But truly understanding one another? That’s another matter entirely. We want to help you meet people to enrich your life and make it more enjoyable, not more complicated. Love should make life simpler, not the other way around.
It doesn't always go perfectly, though, so we’ve put together a few book tips for your summer reading. They might just open your eyes, help you clear your head, or simply keep you entertained while you're lounging on a blanket by the water.
- It’s a well-known fact that Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus, as John Gray’s famous book suggests. Our ways of thinking, behaving, and our needs differ, which is why Barbara and Allan Pease explain Why Men Don't Listen and Women Can't Read Maps and Why Men Lie and Women Cry.
- Is it true that Why Men Love Bitches and "good girls" are left with nothing but tears? (Sherry Argov; ladies, this is a highly recommended piece on female self-respect). However, The Way of the Superior Man can still join forces with The Way of the Wild Woman (David Deida) and lead toward a shared goal.
- If you’re wondering How to Win a Woman Over, Tomáš Baránek’s book of the same name is a "bible" for the shy, full of tips and tricks—as are The Game and The Rules of the Game by Neil Strauss.
- When it comes to understanding men, David Deida offers a useful handbook for women, explaining the "unexplainable" in male behaviour and providing a guide to understanding it.
- For a bit of fun, you can pick up Diary of a Modern Couple (Deníček moderního páru), which is full of playful exaggeration by Dominik Landsman and Zuzana Hubeňáková. And for those looking for some wisdom, there is Marriage Judo (Manželské judo) by Miroslav Plzák.
If you prefer shorter texts, we recommend the blog bezjablka.cz, which wittily and concisely describes male and female stereotypes.
So, you’re now all set with some great summer reading tips. We wish you a wonderful read and look forward to seeing you at one of our events! ;-)
